In partnership with Employment Ontario partners throughout Ontario, training through the Long-term Care Home Assistant program prepares students for entry-level work in a long-term care (LTC) home. Understanding the value of person-centered care in LTC homes as well as the skills needed for Infection, Prevention and Control (IPAC), food service, protective equipment, housekeeping, and laundry are key learning outcomes to ensure students are confident to keep residents, visitors and co-workers safe. Upon successful completion of the program students will earn their certification in Food Safety.
This fully online program runs for 5-weeks with 20 hours of learning each week. Students will have support and access to employment opportunities provided in partnership with an Employment Ontario service provider. Participants require proof of COVID-19 vaccination, clear vulnerable sector police check and a two-step TB test before employment.
